Lawry's, a brand synonymous with seasoning and flavorful cuisine, was founded in 1938 by Lawrence Frank and Walter Van de Kamp in Beverly Hills, California. The inception of Lawry's stemmed from the duo's desire to create a unique dining experience centered around prime rib. Their signature dish was served with an original blend of seasonings, which would soon become the hallmark of the brand.

The original Lawry’s restaurant quickly gained popularity for its upscale environment and exceptional service, attracting celebrities and food enthusiasts alike. In 1947, the brand expanded its reach with the opening of the Lawry's the Prime Rib restaurant in Las Vegas, solidifying its reputation as a premier dining destination. Following this success, additional locations were established in major cities across the United States.

In the early 1950s, the brand ventured into the retail market by launching Lawry's Seasoned Salt, a product that would become widely recognized and embraced by consumers. This marked a significant development in the brand's evolution, as it shifted from a restaurant-focused entity to a household name in the seasoning category. Over the years, Lawry's expanded its product line to include marinades, spice blends, and various seasoning mixes, which further entrenched its presence in kitchens nationwide.

In 2003, Lawry's became part of the McCormick & Company family, a move that provided enhanced distribution and growth opportunities. Today, Lawry's remains a prominent player in the culinary landscape, known for its commitment to quality and flavor. The brand's history reflects a journey from a single restaurant to a versatile and respected name in the food industry, recognized for enhancing everyday meals with delicious seasoning options.
